Summary The main purpose of the paper is to present the results of probabilistic homogenization of the fiber-reinforced composites with stochastic interface defects. The mathematical model of the composite is based on the interphase containing all interface defects which are averaged within this region. Next, the effective modules method is applied to compute the effective thermoelastic characteristics of the composite. The probabilistic characteristics of the homogenized material properties tensor are obtained using the Monte-Carlo simulation technique linked with the Finite Element Method based program. Some further developments of the approach presented finishing the paper.
Keywords interface problems, probabilistic methods, homogenization, Monte-Carlo simulation.
