Summary An approximate analytical elasticity solution for composite laminates undergoing a 3-D state of strain dependent on two coordinates is presented. The presence of delamination is accounted for. Simple and accurate approximations for interlaminar stresses and stiffness parameters are obtained for laminates subjected to axial extension and torsion. The model predictions are compared with existing analytical and numerical results.
Keywords elasticity, laminated composites, delamination, interlaminar stresses.
